Alumni and friends of: Nathan Bedford Forrest High School in Jacksonville, Florida
It has come to our attention that at this time, the only way the alumni can help keep the name of our school is to show up at one of the Alumni meetings scheduled on the following dates. The surveys will be filled out online at the school, but with restricted access, so district officials can be sure of who is taking the survey. You must bring a Photo ID. It would help if you had some proof you attended Forrest, like your diploma.
Friday December 06, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM
Saturday December 07, 2013 from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM
OR for those alumni located outside of Jacksonville only, you can download the official DCSB survey form and mail it in along with a copy of some kind of official identification. The mail in surveys MUST be mailed by December 09, 2013 and ?or received by December 11, 2013.
OFFICIAL DCSB ALUMNI SURVEY FORM
A town hall meeting is scheduled for December 10, 2013 concerning the name change as well. The actual location of this town hall meeting is not yet known to me.
Those who hold a stake in the name change and whose opinion counts the most are the residents who live within school boundaries, its alumni, its current students and staff, and members of its PTA and School Advisory Council.
Superintendent Nikolai Vitti told School Board members that he wants to present survey results and his recommendation to change the name before winter break.
